Minimum Requirements
The following are minimum requirements to be eligible for the Young Professionals Program.

Be 32 years of age or younger (i.e. born on or after September 30, 1979)
Have a Master’s degree or equivalent
Be fluent in English
Be fully proficient in one or more of the Bank’s working languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish
Specialize in a field relevant to the World Bank’s operations such as economics, finance, education, public health, social sciences, engineering, urban planning, and natural resource management
Have at least 3 years of relevant experience at the policy level or continued academic study at the doctoral level.

Additional Qualifications

In order to be competitive for the limited number of positions, a combination of the following credentials is highly desirable:

Display a commitment and passion for international development
Possess outstanding academic credentials
Exhibit excellent client engagement and team leadership skills
Have international development country experience
Be motivated to relocate and undertake country assignments

Please note that the Young Professionals Program does not recruit individuals who specialize in disciplines such as: Computer Science, HR, Accounting, Marketing, Law and Linguistics.

Test Prep Courses, Entrepreneurship, etc Available Online

I was glad to be among you in the last month of August. The launching of my online educational packages was generally successful and I am hoping to come back soon to follow up on what we intend to do eventually- that is to get these programs rolled out on more permanent basis.

If you want to call us on the phone, let us know and we would get you the right numbers.

These courses, which sometime past were the exclusive domain of the elite and the wealthy in the society, are now available to everyone through emerging technologies. Our registration cost is far less than any of the ongoing traditional courses there in Ghana. Our teachers are both professional and graduate students who can teach you to pass well. We also have access to the latest books, ebooks, DVDs and tuition guide that would help any student to come out tops in the examinations.

Our other programs include Entrepreneurship and Job Creation, and Computer Literacy for both adults and students. If you have your own computer or need one to start the literacy classes, we can arrange to get you one so that we can start the class with you. Please, ask us if you are looking for university admissiuon to accreditted universities and colleges in the US, Canada, any of the EU countries and Australasia. This is in all disciplines and subject areas.

I would also be grateful if there could be one or two volunteers from among the KPIWC congregation to moderate the blog with me. Unfortunately, I am compelled to stay on as a moderator because of the way Google has bundled all the blogs that I have created together, so that I have to access all the blogs together with one username and password.

These volunteers would be able to report on ongoing programs at PIWC and eventually link the blog to a church website which I would strongly recommend the church invests in ultimately.

Congratulations, Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi

We congratulate Pastor Samuel Yaw Antwi, now the General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal Council in Accra as an apostle within the Church of Pentecost International. Until his recent assignment, Apostle Antwi was the resident missionary at the Kumasi PIWC.

Apostle Samuel Antwi, a product of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, before serving at KPIWC, was a resident national missionary for the COP in Zimbabwe. The immediate successor of Apostle Antwi and current pastor at KPIWC is Pastor Otu Nyarko, the son of the first radio pastor of the COP and also the headmaster of the first Pentecost Secondary School at Suame in Kumasi, Rev. L.A. Nyarko of blessed memory. To those of us who witnessed the ministry of Rev Nyarko, he was one of the "pillars and builders" of the church.

Other pastors who were also elevated to the position of apostleship included Pastor Samuel Kwesi Arthur, the New York Region area head in the U.S.A. and Pastor Osei Owusu Afriyie, the national head of the church in France. Interestingly, Rev. Osei Owusu Afriyie started at the then English Church now Kumasi PIWC in the late eighties before heading out to the U.K. Congratulations, KPIWC! You seem to be "apostles-creating church".

As members of our great church, we owe these men of God a duty to pray for their families and ministries in the church and beyond. God bless you for reading and also for praying!

News Alert: KPIWC Gets a New Resident Pastor

At the last National Council meeting, a new pastor was appointed to replace Pastor Samuel Y. Antwi. Pastor Nyarko is the new resident minister while the man he replaces is transferred to Accra as the new general secretary for the Ghana Pentecostal Council (GPC).

When History was Made at Pentecost University

On that day, 3rd August 2008, when Elder Dr Peter Ohene Kyei was being inducted into office as the new Rector of the Pentecost University College in Accra, it was also his 55th birthday. At this age, Elder Dr. Peter Ohene Kyei becomes one the youngest rectors ever to head a university in the country.

Elder Dr. Kyei was also ordained a Reverend Minister of the Church on the same day as a result of his new appointment. To those of us who have known Elder Kyei since his days at the University of Ghana and have been privileged to be with him several years at the PIWC, the ministerial appointment was God's unique way to get Elder Dr Peter Ohene Kyei into the full-time ministry, which to most of us is long overdue. He and his brothers and sisters have all been brought up as pastor's kids. No wonder, most of the Kyeis are serving full-time in various capacities in the ministry of the church.

Pastor Kyei of blessed memory was one of the cherished ministers of the church who laboured sacrificially as the pastor of the then Kumasi District at Bompata in the Seventies. I was blessed to have him officiate at my wedding on 1st September 1979 under the chairmanship of the late Chairman of the Church, Apostle F.S. Safo. It is therefore, not surprising that as the eldest son of this great man of God and Osofo Maame Kyei, also of blessed memory, Elder Dr. Peter Ohene Kyei would, on this special day of his life step into the big shoes of his beloved father, and called into full-time service for the Lord, albeit in a slightly different capacity.

This appointment therefore would go down in the annals of the history of the Church of Pentecost as the first to be experienced in the church ... from Elder Dr to Rev. Dr on his 55th birthday. To Reverend Dr. Peter Ohene Kyei, his dear wife, Deaconess Abigail and all the Ohene Kyei siblings, we say CONGRATULATIONS, and to the entire congregation of the Kumasi PIWC, we say PRAISE AND THANKS BE TO GOD for this honour!

Praise God for His plans for us generally and for our dear Elder Dr Peter Ohene Kyei in particular. The pictures above are some of the shots taken at the farewell service organized by the Kumasi PIWC on Sunday July 27th to see off Elder Dr Ohene Kyei and his family to Accra as he takes up the high office of Rector at the Pentecost University College (PUC). Like the young king Solomon, may the Lord guide Him with His presence and grant him wisdom to build on what has been done so far at PUC.

This Year's Ist July Picnic was special!

The annual 1st July Picnic took place at the Community Centre behind the University Primary. In attendance were about four hundred members made up of the young and the seniors. They were all there to play, eat and have fun. There was so much to eat that this reporter was wondering who provided all that... Credit goes to the same old guys like Bro Addo, Dr Prah and the others of the Welfare Committee who have been organizing the fanfare for years!

The most interesting part of the day's events was the soccer match between The Husbands and The Bachelors. It was unfortunate that, even without The Husbands' fearsome duo of Dr Ken Aboah, the "veteran dribbler" and the "free-scoring" Elder Dr. Peter Ohene Kyei, the Bachelors failed to find the net. Thanks to the "fairness" of the referee, Deacon Kofi Agyenim Boateng, who most spectators believed was the twelveth player for The Husbands, the poor Bachelors never found the net. The final scoreline, at the end of proceedings was 2-0 in favour of The Husbands.

My advice to The Bachelors? Well, either you find yourself a wife by 1st July 2009 and join the winning team, or you start greasing the palm of next year's referee, who would still be Deacon Kofi Boateng NOW, because unconfirmed reports say that if The Husbands had fielded their new found utility player, Rev Sam Antwi, the Bachelors would have left the field in tears. A word to the wise is enough!

There was also a dedication of two beautiful babies, one of whom has about five or six names. The two I believe I remember are ........ Nyamekye Nyame, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Festus Nyame on the right! They were dedicated and blessed by the resident pastor of PIWC, Rev. Samuel Antwi, formerly a resident missionary in Zimbabwe, who was also celebrating their wedding anniversary and the birthday of Osofo Maame Antwi.

That Sunday, May 11 was also a Mothers' Day and so the 200-300 kids seized the opportunity to sing a special mothers' day song for their moms. There was yet one more dedication and that was the bible study materials that the membership committee of the church had put together for the members. This dedication was performed by the area head, Apostle F.E. Antwi. Praise the Lord!

It was my second Sunday at PIWC and the first time I have heard the Apostle speak. His theme was "The God who is with you" and the references included Isaiah 7:14, 9:1-7 and Matthew 1:23. The crust of the message was that the despair and darkness in our lives will not go on forever, just as the darkness that engulfed the lands of Zebulun and Naphtali never went on forever. The message ended with a call for prayer for the barren and those looking for a breakthrough in various areas of their lives.
